| The University College of Engineering and Technology Malaysia
(KUKTEM) was established in 2001 to provide education
and training in leading edge technologies for the growing
knowledge economy.
The university wanted to be a player in networked economy
of the next century, and needed to find ways to tie
the supply chain and demand chain to the internal system
to create greater efficiencies and improved collaboration.
It needed a solution that would deliver exceptional
price performance today, but scalable enough for its
future needs.
It invested in an end-to-end Avaya solution – a fully
converged network supported by 10GE and wireless LAN,
to IP Telephony and contact center applications.
The Avaya 10GE network, with the capacity to handle
data traffic up to 10,000 megabits per second, provides
the bandwidth needed to power the paperless environment
KUKTEM wanted whereby books, lecture notes and examinations
are all online. All lecturers attend meetings with their
computer notebooks and tap KUKTEM’s wireless LAN. This
speeds up the dissemination and sharing of meeting minutes
and notes, helping to minimize administrative work.
