Nissen is a direct marketing (mail-order, door-to-door, exhibition sales) business founded in 1970 in Tokyo. Today Nissen achieves $1.5B in annual sales and has 929 employees. Nissen has a customer base of over 18 million. One out of every 2.5 homes in Japan is registered in their database. Over 40 million catalogs are distributed and over 100 million contacts made per year. Nissen has locations within Japan and overseas in China.
Nissen’s mail order business is based in Kyoto. Nissen prides itself in processing an extraordinary number and variety of items at minimum cost. Nissen’s logistics function is based in Fukui and tracks and ships 110,000 pieces of merchandise per day. Large products such as furniture and bedding are handled out of a distribution center in Mie. Twenty five per cent of import containers in Mie are commanded by Nissen furniture and bedding distribution. There are Communication Service Centers and Contact Centers in Sapporo, Sendai, Chiba, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. Nissen has over 1300 agents processing 10 million inbound calls per year from 9am until midnight daily. Nissen also has 160 direct sales offices through the country.
Nissen has implemented a pair of S8700 Media Servers with Communication Manager 2.0 with over 1200 Avaya 4620 telephones in Kyoto and Tokyo. For the Contact Centers they have deployed eight, G650 IP Gateways throughout the country. Nissen has also deployed Avaya CMS V12, PDS V12 for outbound calling only and Avaya Computer Telephony for screen-pops showing customer information of inbound calls.
